Description

Glenmorangie The Nectar D’Or 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt of refined elegance and dessert-style richness. Originally inspired by a visit to a French patisserie, it builds upon the legacy of Nectar D’Or by extending maturation and broadening the cask influence. Matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, it is then finished for 2 years in a combination of sweet white wine casks — notably Sauternes and Monbazillac (France), Moscatel (Spain), and Tokaji (Hungary). This elevated maturation process imbues the whisky with a layered sweetness, pastry aromas, and depth, while keeping a balance of oak, fruit, honey, spice, and gentle acidity. Bottled at 46% ABV, it delivers both richness and finesse.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Bronze-Gold to deep golden hue, warm and alluring with wine cask influence.

NOSE:
Rich and heady: baking brioche, vanilla pudding, baked apricot, toasted almonds, chestnuts; hints of chocolate truffles. With water: candy sweetness, orange syrup, flinty minerality, herbal top notes (sage or basil).

TASTE:
Unctuous and sticky texture with balancing lemon zest. Flavours: vanilla crème anglaise, baked apricots, warm raisin bread, roasting chestnuts, spices like nutmeg & star anise. The oak adds backbone but doesn’t dominate.

FINISH:
Long, lingering: baking bread, lemon rind, honeycomb; continuing harmony of sweet, fruit, and spice tones.
