Description

Villalta Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore is a richer style of Valpolicella made using the ripasso method: the “base” Valpolicella wine is refermented on the grape marc (pomace) left over from Amarone production. Grapes are mostly Corvina and Rondinella from hillside vineyards near San Pietro and Negrar in the Valpolicella region (Veneto, Italy). The “Superiore” status often implies a slightly higher ripeness/alcohol and longer aging.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections.

NOSE:
Aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with dried fruit, cocoa, and baking spice.

TASTE:
Medium to full-bodied with juicy red fruit, dried figs, dark chocolate, and subtle herbal undertones. Silky tannins with well-balanced acidity.

FINISH:
Smooth, persistent finish with notes of cherry and spice lingering on the palate.
