Description

The Oracle is Miner Family Winery’s flagship red blend, produced in Napa Valley by Dave & Emily Miner. It is a Bordeaux-style blend, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with supporting Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, often Malbec depending on vintage). Its grapes are sourced from several premium Napa vineyards including Stagecoach, Volker Eisele, and other appellations. The wine is aged in French oak (often with a high proportion of new oak), typically for ~22 months, then rested in bottle.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep ruby-crimson, nearly opaque in youth; slight garnet hues as it ages.

NOSE:
Rich aromatics of dark fruits — black cherry, cassis, plum — plus red fruits (raspberry, red cherry). Herbal and savory notes like sage, bay leaf or eucalyptus often show up, along with graphite/mineral, cocoa, and cedar. Occasionally floral/dried flower accents (rose, lilac) depending on vintage.

TASTE:
Full-bodied, with plush, layered fruit. Tannins are present and well-structured — firm, grainy, often with chew before they soften. Oak spice (vanilla, toast, cedar), perhaps hints of chocolate or darker baking chocolate, give complexity. There is a balancing freshness (acidity) that keeps the richness from being cloying.

FINISH:
Long, lingering finish with fruit, spice, oak and mineral echoes. Good length of tannin, often dusty or chalky texture as wine matures. Some vintages show more restrained fruit (a bit tighter initially) with potential to open up.
