This is a limited, independent bottling from That Boutique-y Whisky Company showcasing Eddu spirit — the distinctive Breton single malt made with a high proportion of buckwheat (sarrasin) in the mashbill (rather than 100% barley). The result is an unusually aromatic, nutty, and slightly cereal-forward style that sits apart from mainstream Scotch malts. TBWC’s “Batch 1 — 14 Year Old” frames that uncommon raw material with extended oak maturation, aiming to marry Eddu’s vegetal/floral character with age-softened oak and spice.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Buckwheat flowers and toasted buckwheat groats (kasha): warm, nutty and floral.

TASTE:
Smooth, medium-bodied: roasted cereal, almond paste and toasted hazelnut.

FINISH:
Medium length: warming oak spice, lingering nutty sweetness and a faint biscuit/cereal dryness.
