This bottling is from the respected independent bottler That Boutique‑y Whisky Company (TBWC), featuring whisky from the Caol Ila Distillery on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Importantly, TBWC notes that this release “has been finished in an ex-rum barrel” rather than a standard ex-bourbon or sherry only finish.

Strong wafts of coastal character—wood, tropical fruit, salt & pepper, underlying creaminess.

The rum-barrel finish seems to bring out sweeter/fruitier elements than a pure bourbon finish might—learned notes mention fresh fruit, a hint of ginger, plus the peat/smoke Caol Ila is known for.
FINISH:
The salted sea breeze, peppery smoke and lighter sweetness linger.
