Description

This expression is a 15-year-old single malt from the Blair Athol Distillery in the Scottish Highlands (Pitlochry, Perthshire). The distillery is owned by Diageo and is more commonly known for supplying malt to blends (notably Bell’s) rather than being bottled frequently as a single malt.

TBWC describes the bottling thus: it is finished in a first-fill ex-bourbon barrel, bottled at 45.8% ABV, and released in a limited edition of around 344 bottles.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Bright and crisp with honeyed orchard fruits (e.g., ripe apples, pears) and a sweet malt character.

TASTE:
A rich, malty base: malt loaf, vanilla pods, summer grasses.

FINISH:
Warm, nutty and satisfyingly rich; ginger warmth, vanilla-honeyling lingering.
