Description

Issan Unaged Batch 1 is a Thai pot‑still, cane‑juice‑based agricole‑style rum, distilled at Issan’s own distillery in northeast Thailand from their native red sugar cane. Made in 2015 and rested for ~35 months in stainless steel (a process called affinage), it was bottled at 40 % ABV, unaged and non‑chill‑filtered. Only 836 bottles were released. The label, designed by Jim’ll Paint It, features the distillery overlooking the fields of red cane.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Potent vegetal and herbaceous: freshly cut sugar cane, green apples, honeydew melon, damp hay, grassy aromas, along with touches of rose, vanilla, butterscotch and dark berries.

TASTE:
Sweet dried grass, briny olive water, white pepper, and ripe pear—with toffee and honeysuckle sweetness balancing the vegetal core.

FINISH:
Clean and spicy lingering notes of white pepper and vegetal spice that close quickly and leave a subtle bite.
