Talisker 8 Year Old Special Release 2024 — This is a limited edition Talisker single malt Scotch whisky bottled at natural cask strength (~58.7% ABV) and released as part of Diageo’s 2024 Spirited Xchange Special Releases collection. While the official title for the Talisker expression in this series is often referenced in listings as the Talisker 8 Year Old Natural Cask Strength, “Midnight Dusk” is the shared theme within this 2024 release set alongside other Distillery-first expressions from Mortlach and others. The release pushes flavour boundaries while celebrating Talisker’s maritime legacy and elemental character distilled on the Isle of Skye.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Rich gold with a depth typical of well-matured Talisker at higher strength.
NOSE:
Powerful peat smoke and brine, with sea spray, salty coastal air, and subtle hints of vanilla and malted barley — a bold maritime bouquet.
TASTE:
Full-flavoured with orchard fruit layers (pear, apple) merging into classic Talisker elements: pepper spice, saline intensity, light smoke, and mineral undertones that evoke the Isle of Skye windswept shores.
FINISH:
Long and warming, where smoke, spice, and sea-salt linger, balanced by sweet vanilla and dried fruit — revealing complexity and strength from the natural cask bottling.
