Sotol La Higuera Cucharilla (Acrotrichum) is a wild, artisanal sotol from Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico, distilled by Maestro Sotolero Gerardo Ruelas under the La Higuera label. The spirit is made from the Dasylirion acrotrichum species — a rarer and smaller-yielding plant often referred to locally as Cucharilla (“little spoon”) due to its shape.

This species thrives at high altitude in rocky, arid soils, resulting in a sotol that is particularly bright, aromatic, and mineral-driven. Production follows entirely traditional, small-batch methods handed down in Chihuahua’s sotolero families.
