Blended from the best barrels of Schrader’s clone-specific lots (typically Clone 4 and Clone 6), Old Sparky is known for its power, purity, and grandeur. Bottled only in magnum format, this wine is a collector's icon and a benchmark for modern California Cabernet Sauvignon. The magnum format enhances aging potential, further elevating its legendary status.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
Old Sparky opens with an explosive bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry compote, violets, and dark chocolate, complemented by undertones of graphite, cigar box, and scorched earth.
TASTE:
On the palate, it is full-bodied and opulent, showcasing layers of plum, cassis, licorice, espresso, and crushed stone.
FINISH:
The tannins are ultra-fine yet commanding, with a plush texture and an incredibly long, seamless finish. Despite its richness, the wine retains remarkable freshness and focus. This is Cabernet at its most commanding and graceful.
