Description
The 2020 Ridge Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the historic Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA—one of California’s most celebrated mountain sites. This cuvée is Ridge’s “younger sibling” to the flagship Monte Bello, crafted to be approachable earlier while retaining serious structure and age-worthiness. Fermentation with native yeasts and minimal intervention preserves a vivid sense of place, while aging in American oak (50% new) for 18 months lends subtle spice and texture.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep garnet core with a faint purple rim.
NOSE:
Blackberry, cassis, and black plum mingle with notes of cedar, graphite, bay laurel, black olive, dried herbs, dark chocolate, and crushed rock minerality.
TASTE:
Medium-to-full-bodied with layers of blackcurrant, boysenberry, and ripe plum supported by earthy tobacco, cocoa, and dried sage. The tannins are finely knit, with a taut mineral backbone and fresh acidity.
FINISH:
Long, savory, and precise—leaving echoes of dark fruit, spice, and stony earth.
