Description

Ramón Bilbao’s Sauvignon Blanc from Rueda comes from Finca Las Amedias, located around 770 m elevation. Night harvest is employed to preserve freshness. The winery uses a combination of fermentation vessels (stainless steel, concrete, and foudres / large wooden vats) and keeps the wine in contact with its lees (fine lees) until bottling to enhance mouthfeel and texture.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Pale lemon-yellow with greenish hues; clean, bright appearance.

NOSE:
Strong herbal / grassy notes (“cut grass”), citrus (lemon, lime), tropical touches (passionfruit, lychee), and hints of gooseberry. Balancing these are some subtle oak or wood-derived spice, pepper, and herbal tones.

TASTE:
Fresh and crisp acidity; medium intensity. The flavour continues the citrus, passionfruit tropes; there is also a smooth texture from lees contact. Herbal notes return in the finish.

FINISH:
Long, clean, with a slightly silky texture. Herbal / citrus aftertaste. Balanced and well stretched, not overly heavy, with lasting freshness.
