Planteray Single Cask Jamaica VRM 2017 is a rare single-cask Jamaican rum from the historic Long Pond Distillery, bottled under the Planteray label (formerly Plantation Rum by Maison Ferrand). Distilled in 2017 using the high-ester VRM (Vale Royal Wedderburn) marque, this expressive rum showcases Jamaica’s famed pot-still character with bold tropical fruit intensity and distinctive funk.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Rich gold with a lustrous sheen, reflecting its extended barrel maturation.
NOSE:
An intense and aromatic profile dominated by ripe tropical fruit aromas like banana, cantaloupe, pineapple skin, and lime zest, interwoven with orchard fruit sweetness, warm vanilla, nutmeg, and subtle caramel.
TASTE:
Bold Jamaican funk courtesy of the VRM ester profile, with abundant pineapple and citrus alongside starfruit and lemongrass. Layered notes of cider apple, cherry, allspice, light caramel, blond tobacco, and cinnamon add complexity and richness.
FINISH:
A long, layered finish with lingering citrus, faint smoke, creamy custard, coffee, almond, and a hint of pepper that evolves gradually on the palate.
