Description
Oban 10 Year Old Natural Cask Strength – Special Release 2024 is a limited-edition Highland single malt from Oban Distillery, released as part of Diageo’s 2024 Special Releases “Spirited Xchange 2.0” series. This expression celebrates Oban’s unique position at the meeting point of coastal maritime influence and Highland malt character. The whisky was initially matured for 10 years in refill American oak casks before being finished in freshly charred American oak barrels seasoned with Oloroso sherry, then bottled at its natural cask strength of ~58 % ABV (116 proof) without chill-filtration.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Warm golden amber — bright and inviting.
NOSE:
Sea breeze and crystal salt, with hints of seaweed, light oak, vanilla, and citrus peel (especially lemon), alongside sweet orchard fruits and subtle sherried spice.
TASTE:
Medium-full and layered — orange and lemon zest, creamy vanilla, sea-salted sweetness, and gentle oak spice. There are also notes of baked apple, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg entwined with coastal brine.
FINISH:
Medium-length and warming, merging spice and citrus with lingering salty-sweet nuances and a touch of light smoke.
