Description

This Riserva, known as Riserva Selezionata, is crafted only in the best years using 95 % Sangiovese and a touch (5 %) of Merlot. Grapes come from the south-facing Vigna Alta vineyard at ~500 m elevation, planted in Galestro- and Alberese-rich soils. Following fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages for 24 months in French barriques and tonneaux (20 % new oak), then spends six months in concrete and an additional six months in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep, intense ruby–garnet.

NOSE:
Aromas of ripe cherry, blueberry, blackberry, garrigue, exotic spices, vanilla, mocha, and a hint of cedar.

TASTE:
Full-bodied and polished, featuring elegant fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, rich dark fruit, espresso or roasted coffee notes, star anise, and a long, refined finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with hearty Tuscan dishes: grilled or roasted lamb, bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar ragu, braised short ribs, aged Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano, and rich pasta dishes like pici with cinghiale or sausage pizza.
