Nittardi’s Ad Astra (“through hardship to the stars”) is their elegant second label from the Maremma region, grown on sandy, granite- and schist-rich soils at about 250 m elevation near the Tyrrhenian Sea on their Mongibello delle Mandorlaie estate. The blend—typically around 50 % Sangiovese, 25 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 % Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Merlot (plus occasional secret varietals)—is organically farmed and seamlessly crafted under the guidance of noted winemaker Carlo Ferrini.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep, opulent ruby with violet hues.

NOSE:
Ripe black and red berries (plum, cherry), nuanced spice (liquorice, subtle chili), cocoa and mocha notes, tobacco, walnut skin, and soft floral whispers.

TASTE:
Medium-to-full-bodied with silky yet grippy tannins, vibrant acidity, and a complex, spicy finish—touches of dark fruit, cedar, chocolate and hints of incense.
