MontRubí “Black” is a bold and expressive red wine from the heart of Catalonia, produced by the boutique winery MontRubí. Crafted primarily from 100% Sumoll—a nearly extinct indigenous grape revived by the estate—MontRubí Black is a striking example of modern winemaking rooted in tradition. Grown at high altitudes (500–600 meters) in the rugged hills of the Penedès region, the wine is organically farmed and vinified with minimal intervention to preserve purity and character.

This wine stands out for its unique personality, vibrant fruit, and earthy elegance—representing the revival of Sumoll as a noble varietal in contemporary Spanish winemaking.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep garnet with ruby edges.

NOSE:
Intense aromas of wild red berries, dried herbs, rose petals, and hints of Mediterranean scrubland. Underlying earthy notes of leather and graphite add depth.

TASTE:
Fresh and juicy with medium body and high natural acidity. Red currant, sour cherry, and pomegranate dominate, layered with savory spice, crushed rock, and subtle oak.

FINISH:
