M. Chapoutier Ermitage L’Ermite is an iconic single-vineyard Syrah from the Hermitage hill, sourced from the highest-altitude parcels around the historic chapel of Saint Christopher. Grown on decomposed granite soils with excellent drainage and exposure, L’Ermite yields some of the most structured, mineral-driven, and profound Syrah expressions in the world. This wine is made biodynamically by Michel Chapoutier, a pioneer in terroir transparency, and is produced in very limited quantities, reflecting the soul of Hermitage in every bottle.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
In the glass, L’Ermite displays an impenetrable deep purple hue.

NOSE:
The nose is intense and tightly wound in youth, offering notes of blackberry, crushed blackcurrant, graphite, and smoked meat, along with liquorice, black olive tapenade, violets, and a touch of black pepper and crushed stone.

TASTE:
On the palate, it is full-bodied and monumental, with firm tannins, electric acidity, and immense concentration.

FINISH:
The finish is long, savoury, and mineral-driven, evolving over decades to reveal haunting complexity.
