Description

Produced by the artisanal estate of Luigi & Fiorina Baudana in Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo Cerretta is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo sourced from the esteemed Cerretta cru—specifically the cooler Cerretta Piani slope with iron-rich marls. Vines planted since 1970 are hand-harvested. Fermentation occurs in open-top wood vats (20–30 days, occasional whole clusters), followed by extended submerged cap maceration (20–35 days). The wine matures in neutral Slavonian oak for around 32 months, then spends at least 8 months in bottle. Only about 4,000 bottles are produced per vintage.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Garnet-ruby.

NOSE:
Aromas of dark cherries, raspberries, wild roses, crushed stones, earthy tar, menthol, leather, and hints of iris and violet.

TASTE:
Medium to full-bodied with red and black berry flavors, chalky tannins, bright acidity, savory spice (licorice, cinnamon), eucalyptus, and forest-floor complexity.

FINISH:
Long, structured, mineral-driven, with lingering menthol, orange peel, tea-like bitters, and polished tannins.
