Description

“Clos du Clos Genet” is a climat / lieu-dit in Santenay, Burgundy. The Jessiaume parcel is special in that its plot is enclosed within the larger Clos Genet, hence the name “Clos du Clos Genet.” The vineyard area used by Jessiaume is 0.53 ha, planted on brown limestone and marl soils, with south-west exposure.

The vines are carefully managed and hand-harvested. In their 2022 edition, Jessiaume detail that after sorting, the grapes are de-stemmed and go directly into tank, with cold pre-fermentation maceration (≈ 5 days), followed by spontaneous fermentation and about 3 weeks in tank for alcoholic fermentation. Then the wine is aged 12 months in oak barrels (about 25% new oak) with no fining (no “collage”).

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Aromas of sweet red berries, orange zest, petals.

TASTE:
Medium-bodied, supple and perfumed, with melting tannins.

FINISH:
Approachable now, with good balance between fruit and structure.
