Description

Jacquesson Cuvée No. 747 Extra Brut Magnum is a non-vintage Champagne that marks a departure from traditional NV blends. Instead, it is based on a single vintage—2019 in this case—blended with a portion of reserve wines to maintain consistency. The 747 series is renowned for its focus on purity, low dosage (1.5 grams per liter), and minimal intervention winemaking.

The blend comprises Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, sourced from the Grand Cru villages of Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers (68%), Avize, and Oiry (32%). The 2019 vintage was characterized by an exceptionally rainy winter, followed by a mild and stormy spring. However, from June onwards, the weather became fine and dry, leading to a particularly early harvest, starting on August 30th and finishing on September 11th. The state of health of the grapes was perfect, and the harvest was abundant with an excellent degree of ripeness and moderate acidity, resulting in wines that are particularly fine and elegant.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Pale gold with a persistent, fine mousse.

NOSE:
A complex bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, citrus zest, brioche, almond, dried flowers, and subtle smoky oak notes.

TASTE:
Rich and creamy texture with flavors of baked apple, custard, clove spice, almond, and a fresh saline minerality that balances the richness. Elegant acidity provides tension and length.

FINISH:
Long, harmonious, and vibrant with a delicate chalky minerality.
