Description

The DuMOL Wester Reach Chardonnay is a signature multi-vineyard expression of DuMOL’s cool-climate Chardonnay craft. Sourced primarily from the Russian River Valley—drawing fruit from estate parcels and select neighboring vineyards—the wine represents a “panoramic” view of the region’s terroir. The name Wester Reach refers to the westernmost stretches of the Russian River Valley, where cooling Pacific breezes and morning fog prolong the growing season, allowing for slow, even ripening and the preservation of bright acidity.

This Chardonnay is crafted from low-yielding, meticulously farmed vines. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, and fermented using native yeasts in a combination of French oak barrels (a portion new) and concrete. The élevage typically lasts 12 months on lees with minimal stirring, followed by a short time in stainless steel to lock in freshness before bottling.

COLOR:
Pale lemon-gold with shimmering clarity and green reflections.

NOSE:
Aromatically vibrant with a lifted combination of Meyer lemon, ripe pear, white peach, and citrus blossom. Subtle secondary layers of toasted brioche, almond cream, and wet stone emerge with air.

TASTE:
Medium-bodied yet finely textured. The entry offers a burst of lemon curd, orchard fruits, and a hint of pineapple, followed by a savory mineral depth. The oak is integrated, providing gentle vanilla and hazelnut notes without overshadowing the fruit. The acidity is crisp and mouthwatering, carrying flavors seamlessly across the palate.

FINISH:
Long, precise, and saline-driven, lingering with citrus zest, chalky minerality, and a whisper of spice.
