Description

Situated in the commune of Primeaux-Prissey at the South of the appellation, Clos des Argillières counts among 41 Premier Crus of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. It is part of the larger ‘climat’ (plot) known as “Argillières”.
It adjoins Clos des Corvées and is distinguished by its’ steep slope which at its’ highest touches the cap rock. When it became part of Domaine Prieuré Roch in 2009, the plot was already being cultivated organically for several years and so easily found its’ place among the most expressive “terroirs” of the domaine.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Medium to deep ruby; youthful with bright clarity.

NOSE:
Complex aromas of ripe cherries, blackberry, raspberry and dark fruit, with floral hints and spice layers; some vintages show an earthy, forest-floor quality.

TASTE:
Medium-to-full body with smooth, enveloping tannins and concentrated dark fruit flavours. Notes of plum, blackcurrant, spice and mineral/earth tones come through, with a hint of violet or secondary savoury complexity in mature bottles.

FINISH:
Long and persistent, often leaving a lasting impression of dark fruit and subtle spice.

Red meats: Roast beef ribeye, filet mignon or lamb with herb jus.

Game: Venison loin, duck breast with berry reductions.
