Domaine des Moriers’ Moulin-à-Vent is a distinguished Cru from the Beaujolais region, produced from old Gamay vines planted on granite and silt soils in the Lancié area. Recognised as one of Beaujolais’ most serious and age-worthy crus, Moulin-à-Vent offers depth, structure and complexity that often rivals lighter Burgundy reds. At Moriers the grapes are fermented traditionally — often with whole clusters — and aged partly in oak (medium-to-large barrels) which adds texture and subtle oak influence without overwhelming the pure fruit and terroir expression. The estate practices organic agriculture with regenerative principles, emphasizing soil health and minimal intervention.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep ruby red, hinting at garnet with age.

NOSE:
Complex and expressive, featuring rich dark cherries and ripe red berry fruits alongside floral spice, subtle earthiness and faint toasted oak. Older vintages may develop gamey, tobacco and leathery nuances.

TASTE:
Medium-to-full body for a Beaujolais, with concentrated fruit intensity supported by firm yet refined tannins.

FINISH:
Layers of cherry, plum and spice evolve into mineral and savoury undertones, all backed by bright acidity and a long, structured finish. With age, tertiary notes of dried herbs, leather and earth appear.
