Delheim’s Merlot is part of their Family Estate / Premium Range. Grown on the Simonsberg slopes in Stellenbosch, this wine is crafted in a fruit-driven style with elegance. It tends to show ripe dark fruits, subtle oak influence and silky tannins, offering a balanced wine that’s approachable in its youth yet with enough structure to pair with richer foods.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep ruby.
NOSE:
Dark, ripe fruit—plum, mulberry, blackberry. There are also notes of tobacco and oak spice, with a hint of buchu (a native South African herbal note) in some vintages.
TASTE:
Medium-bodied, with rounded mouthfeel. The dark fruit flavours carry through, supported by oak undertones and cigar-box spice. The tannins are smooth and silky, giving good texture without being harsh.
FINISH:
Silky and plush, with lingering fruit and subtle oak and spice. The finish is clean and pleasant, not overly long but satisfying.
