Darkness - Ledaig 21 Year Old Olorosso Cask Finish | Single Malt Scotch Whisky

NOSE:
Polished old oak, warmed leather and beeswax open first. Underneath: peat smoke softened to bonfire embers, candied orange peel, dried figs and black cherries. Notes of walnut, tobacco box and a faint tarry, coastal iodine sit in the background.

TASTE:
Oily, weighty mouthfeel. Rich treacle-toffee and dried fruits up front, moving into smoked espresso, dark chocolate and molasses. The peat is mature and earthy (charcoal embers rather than medicinal phenol), while Oloroso adds nutty marzipan, roasted walnut and a warm spice thread (clove, ginger).

FINISH:
Long, slightly tannic finish — lingering peat embers, bitter-sweet cocoa, toasted almond and a last citrus oil lift. The oak shows its age: structure and dryness that keeps the sweetness honest.
