This is a special limited-edition single malt from Craigellachie Distillery in Speyside, released under the Darkness label. It carries a 12 year age statement and has been finished in hand-coopered Oloroso sherry octave casks (a much smaller cask size than standard, thereby increasing the spirit-to-wood contact and intensifying the sherry character).
The ABV of this bottling is approximately 62.2% for one version (50 cl, 62.2%) as listed by a UK retailer.
Another variant was bottled at 52.5% ABV, limited to only 90 bottles for a retailer exclusive.
This release is positioned as an “intensely sherried” offering from the Darkness range, designed for fans of bold sherry-bomb style whiskies.
