Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep ruby with possible garnet hues, medium-to-high intensity. Distinguished by its richness of colour.
NOSE:
Dark berry fruits dominate: blackberry, cherry, raspberry. There are also sweet vanilla tones, and sometimes a hint of oak or light spice (e.g. pepper) depending on vintage.
TASTE:
Full-to-medium body. Fruit flavours carry through: black cherry, raspberry, blackberry. Tannins are soft and somewhat layered; not overly aggressive. The wine is dry. Some versions show a touch of smoke or oak on the finish.
FINISH:
Smooth with moderate finish. The tannins give structure but stay accessible. Finish may show lingering fruit with a touch of vanilla or mild oak. Warmth from alcohol is present but not overwhelming.
Food Pairing
Crane Lake Cabernet Sauvignon works well with hearty and flavourful foods that can stand up to its dark fruit profile and tannin structure. Some pairing ideas:
Grilled or roasted red meats: ribeye steak, lamb chops, beef burgers.
Cheeses: aged cheddar, gouda, or other hard cheeses.
Tomato-based dishes: pastas with marinara, meat sauces, lasagna.
Barbecue: smoky meats, charred flavours complement the wine’s fruit and mild oak/spice.
Hearty vegetables or vegetarian fare with robust sauces: mushrooms, eggplant, or bell peppers in rich sauces.
