Description

A robust red from Priorat’s iconic llicorella (slate) terraces, crafted under biodynamic principles at Clos Galena. The 60% Garnacha, 20% Cariñena, and 20% Syrah grapes are organically cultivated on select plots, yielding just around 0.5 kg per vine. Each variety is fermented separately (22 °C, 7 days), macerated at 28 °C, then blended and aged for eight to nine months in new French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels. Notably, the 2014 vintage was the first Catalan wine served at the Nobel Prize banquet in 2017—an international milestone.

Tasting Notes

COLOR:
Deep, intense cherry-red (picota), occasionally with violet hues.

NOSE:
Complex layers of red and black berries intermixed with balsamic, spicy notes, and a subtle mineral lift from the slate terroir.

TASTE:
Full-bodied and powerful, yet smooth and velvety. Meaty, with ripe, fresh tannins balancing the rich fruit. The oak aging adds subtle spice and structure.

FINISH:
Long and plush, with lingering spice, balsamic echoes, and fresh tannic grip.
