Description
Hailing from Madiran’s Vic‑Bilh region, Greenwich 43 N is vinified from 100% Tannat grapes planted on a distinct south‑facing 2.6 ha parcel that coincidentally sits on the Greenwich meridian. These 40–50‑year‑old vines grow on “pouzzolane” soils (rolled pebbles and clay), perfectly suited to produce robust Tannat with concentration and complexity. The wine undergoes 25 days of skin contact, followed by malolactic conversion in oak and 18 months aging in new oak barrels. The Lesgourgues family applies sustainable viticulture, with 40% fewer chemical treatments.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep garnet with crimson glints.
NOSE:
Eucalyptus, licorice and vanilla emerge initially, giving way to stewed and fresh dark fruits—blackberry, blackcurrant—as well as spicy, earthy, and subtle animal notes.
TASTE:
Powerful and full-bodied with a rich, ripe attack. Ripe black and red fruits combine with sweet spice, rounded yet present tannins, and vibrant acidity delivering a structured, velvety mouthfeel.
FINISH:
Mellowed tannins, lingering woody spice and fruit, balanced and long-lasting.
