Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, Château Calon‑Ségur is the northernmost classified château of Saint‑Estèphe, with a rich heritage dating back to the Middle Ages. The iconic heart on the label reflects the Marquis de Ségur's famous motto: “I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon”.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep garnet to purple, full and dense.
NOSE:
Pronounced black fruits—blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry—layered with cedar, pencil lead, cigar box, violets, minty menthol, and tobacco.
TASTE:
Rich, full-bodied texture supported by firm grainy tannins.
FINISH:
Flavors of dark fruit compote, graphite minerality, earthy and cedar-spice elements, with a savoury finish marked by tobacco and leather.
