Château Balestard La Tonnelle is a prestigious estate located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the 15th century. The name comes from a watchtower (“tonnelle”) built by the English during the Hundred Years’ War. The vineyard covers about 10.6 hectares, planted mainly with Merlot (~70%), plus Cabernet Franc (~25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (~5%).

The estate is classified as a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, and its wines are known for combining elegance and power, thanks to the limestone soils that give minerality and finesse. Vinification typically involves temperature-controlled fermentation in concrete vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels (around 50–70% new oak) for 15–18 months.
