This high-elevation Napa Valley icon is crafted entirely from chardonnay-free Bordeaux varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Chappellet’s rugged estate on Pritchard Hill. The grapes were aged for 22 months in new French oak, followed by 8 months in bottle before release. Only around 2,309 cases were produced—making it both rare and collectible.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Inky, deep garnet-purple, exuding elegance and concentration.
NOSE:
Aromas of ripe blackberry, dark plum, and cola intertwined with leather, vanilla oak, espresso, clove, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
TASTE:
Rich and medium-full, with structured tannins. Flavors of dark currant, bittersweet chocolate, plum, cedar, garrigue herbs, anise, and an earthy, mineral backbone.
FINISH:
Long and resolute, marked by graphite, mineral notes, cedar, and espresso-laced oak—it’s a powerful yet poised finish.
