Description
Ronchedone is a red blend by Cà dei Frati, produced in the morainic hills near Lake Garda (Desenzano area, Lombardia). It is made from 45% Marzemino, 45% Sangiovese, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils are limestone-clay, limy and sandy, giving the wine firmness and minerality.
Vinification involves maceration in steel with prolonged skin-contact, malolactic fermentation, aging in barriques (~14 months), followed by bottle maturation (~10 months) before release. Alcohol content is around 14-14.5%.

Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Deep ruby red, often with garnet highlights on rims.
NOSE:
Rich red fruits (blueberries, morello cherries, plum), jammy undertones, marasca cherries in alcohol; complemented by balsamic, hints of jam, possibly crushed herbs or faint floral edge. Some oak / vanilla / spicy notes (pepper, licorice) also emerge.
TASTE:
Powerful and incisive: juicy fruit, good body, clean and savoury with fine acidity that balances the richness. Tannins well-integrated though somewhat vivid in younger vintages.
FINISH:
Slightly bitter or dark-chocolate edge in the finish in some versions.
